Brief's job is to keep you continuously prepared for the meetings, decisions, and conversations ahead. The capabilities below are how it does that.
They fall into four areas: briefings that prepare you for what is next, a Knowledge Graph that maintains who and what matters to your work, chat and agent actions that let you ask questions and act on the answers, and search across everything you have connected. Brief delivers them through the web app and via chat in WhatsApp.
Why does Brief sometimes show content and then update it a moment later?
Brief loads your most recently saved content immediately so the page is usable right away, then refreshes it in the background with a new AI pass. When the refresh completes, the page updates automatically. This is intentional—it keeps the app fast while ensuring your content stays current.
Briefings
Brief's headline capability. Three types: a daily briefing each morning, a meeting briefing before each calendar event, and a person briefing on demand for any contact. The Knowledge Graph
Brief reads the data you connect and builds a Knowledge Graph of the people, companies, projects, and commitments that show up in your work. Several capabilities flow from that.
- Entity extraction. Brief identifies people, companies, projects, and commitments inside emails, messages, meeting transcripts, and documents as they arrive.
- Entity enrichment. For people and companies, Brief pulls in background information from Apollo, Crunchbase, and news sources, so you can see role, employer, and recent activity in one place.
- Person embeddings. Brief generates embeddings for your contacts so the same person is recognized across different channels and addresses.
- Relationship learning. Over time, Brief learns the relationships between the people you work with: who collaborates with whom, who introduced you, and what topics tie them together.
- Contact notes sync. Brief writes a short relationship summary and recent commitments into the notes field of each contact in your address book, so the context is available wherever your contacts app appears, including your phone's dialer.
- Calendar event annotation. Brief creates a companion event on your calendar for each meeting briefing, so the briefing is one tap away inside whatever calendar app you use.
Chat and agent actions
You can ask Brief questions and have Brief act on your behalf.
- Agentic chat. Ask Brief about your work in natural language: "What did we decide about pricing in the Acme deal?" or "Who at Sequoia should I send this update to?" Brief answers using your connected data. Where the answer implies an action, such as drafting an email, scheduling a meeting, creating a task, or searching the web, Brief can take that next step on your approval.
- Chat suggestions. As you work in chat, Brief suggests follow-up questions or next steps grounded in what you have asked and the tools available to it.
- Voice assistant. Talk to Brief to ask questions or trigger actions hands-free.
- Your Move. A section in the Brief interface that surfaces commitments and questions that belong to you—items Brief has identified that require a decision or response on your part. The suggestions are generated from your connected data and improve over time as Brief learns your patterns.
- Commitment suggestions. When something in your inbox or messages looks like a commitment you made or one made to you, Brief surfaces it as a task you can accept with one tap.
Search and discovery
Beyond briefings, Brief gives you direct access to the entities and content it has indexed.
- Object browser. Browse and search across the entities Brief has extracted: people, companies, projects, commitments, messages, and connections.
- Unified search. Search across people, entities, messages, and connections from a single field.
- Chat messages browser. Search and view Google Chat messages with date-range filters and sort options.
Where you can use Brief
Brief is available as a web app (app.trybrief.ai) and via chat in WhatsApp. Briefings are delivered to your email inbox by default, so you do not need to open Brief to receive value from it.
